- Weigh your pet — this door is recommended for pets up to ~13 lbs.
- Measure your pet's widest point (usually across the shoulders or hips). That width should be smaller than the flap width (7.5 in). For comfortable passage, aim for about 1 in of clearance (ideal maximum shoulder width ≈ 6.5 in).
- Measure shoulder height (floor to top of shoulder). If shoulder height is taller than the flap height (6.1 in), your pet would need to crouch to pass through; many cats can do this but most small dogs cannot.
- Installation note: Designed to mount on glass or sliding glass doors; transparent flap keeps a low profile once installed.
