How to check it will fit your dog
- Measure your dog’s shoulder height (floor to top of shoulders). As a rule of thumb, the gate/panel should be at least 6 in taller than this measurement to reduce jumping over the barrier.
- Measure your dog’s length (base of neck to base of tail) and chest girth (widest part of ribcage). If you plan to create an enclosed area, make sure the internal space allows the dog to stand, turn, and lie down comfortably with several inches of clearance.
- Measure the opening where you will place the gate or the planned panel run. The opening width should be at least 2 in wider than your dog’s chest for easy passage; enclosed-play areas should be roomy enough for the dog to move freely.
