How to pick the right size
- Measure your dog from the tip of the nose to the base of the tail (not the tail tip). Add 4–6 in to that length — choose a crate with at least that interior length.
- Measure your dog standing from the floor to the top of the head or ears. Add 2–4 in for head clearance.
- Measure shoulder width and add 2–4 in so your dog can turn comfortably.
Example quick-check: if your dog is 30 in from nose to tail base, choose a crate with internal length of ~34–36 in or larger. Confirm the door opening (width × height) fits your dog’s shoulder width and height so they can enter easily.
Note on weight: The cage supports up to 220 lbs of load capacity; the "Best for" column gives practical dog-fit guidance based on typical body sizes. When in doubt, use your dog's length + 4–6 in and height + 2–4 in as the deciding factors.
