- Measure your pet's curled length: how many inches from nose to base of tail when curled up. Choose a bed at least 4–6 in wider than that curled length for comfortable turning and nesting.
- Measure shoulder/standing height: compare to the bed height to ensure your pet can enter and sit comfortably. Allow ~2–4 in clearance above the pet's shoulder height for easy head movement inside.
- If your pet tends to stretch out fully, measure full body length and add 6–8 in to choose a bed with enough flat space.
