- Measure shoulder height from floor to top of shoulders. The flap opening height is 9.5 in — your pet's shoulder height should be a little less than this so they can pass easily.
- Check door/thickness where you'll install: the frame depth is 1.6 in. Make sure the mounting surface can accommodate a frame of that depth or be prepared to trim if installing in thicker panels.
- If your pet is near the upper suggestions for width/height or you prefer extra room, consider a larger pet door; for average cats and most small dogs, this size provides a comfortable fit.
