- Measure length: from the base of the neck (where collar sits) to the base of the tail.
- Measure width: across the widest part of the shoulders.
- Choose a mat length at least 6–12 in longer than your dog's length if your dog sleeps stretched out. If your dog curls up, a mat length equal to your dog's length plus about 6 in is usually enough.
- For width, pick a mat at least 3–6 in wider than the shoulder measurement for comfortable turning.
Example: a dog 36 in long who sleeps stretched should use a mat 42–48 in long — that would point to the XL size shown above.
