If your dog is medium or large, choose a full-size booster or rear-seat carrier instead.
Quick checklist to confirm fit:
- Weight: your dog should be around 25 lbs or less.
- Back length: measure from the base of the neck to the base of the tail — dogs roughly 18 inches or shorter will generally sit comfortably.
- Console check: measure the flat area of your car's center console where the seat will sit; your dog should be able to sit with all four paws supported or with slight overhang.
How to measure your dog:
- Back length — have your dog stand and measure from the base of the neck (where the collar sits) to the base of the tail.
- Shoulder height — measure from the floor to the top of the shoulders while standing.
- Weight — use a home scale or your vet's records.
