- Measure from the floor to the bottom of your dog’s chest (where the chest meets the front legs). The bowl rim should be close to that height so your dog can eat with a neutral neck position.
- Choose the height setting that most closely matches that measurement. If your dog is between two settings, pick the lower one for puppies or pets that tend to lean forward while eating, or the higher one for taller/longer-chested adults.
- A simple mapping to help decide: 3.15 in — tiny kittens/toy breeds; 8.66–9.45 in — small breeds (~10–25 lbs); 10.24–11.02 in — medium breeds (~25–45 lbs); 11.81 in — larger small/shorter-leg medium dogs (~45–60 lbs).
- To add a slight forward tilt (5°–10°) set the rear legs 1–2 steps higher than the front — useful for pets with joint discomfort.
