- Measure the opening: measure the clear width where the gate will go (side-to-side). Choose the gate size with a width equal to or slightly larger than that opening.
- Check gate height vs. your pet: the gate height is 14.2 in for all sizes. Measure your dog from floor to top of shoulders — if your dog’s shoulder height is below about 12 in and your dog doesn't jump, this gate will usually block them. If your dog jumps or stands taller than that, consider a taller barrier.
- Allow a little clearance: for placement in doorways with trim, measure to the narrowest point (not including removable trim) to ensure the gate sits flush.
