- If your dog is longer than ~20 in (nose to base of tail) consider allowing extra interior length when you build or place the cage so the dog can lie down comfortably.

- Length: measure from the tip of the nose to the base of the tail — write this down in inches.
- Height: measure from the floor to the highest point of the shoulder (with dog standing naturally) in inches.
