How to measure your pet (quick):
- Shoulder height — measure from the floor to the highest point of the shoulders while your pet is standing normally.
- Shoulder width — measure across the widest part of the shoulders (front legs included).
- Compare your pet’s measurements to the space where you’ll install the pet door. For comfortable passage, allow at least 2 in of extra clearance above the pet’s height and at least 2 in extra width beyond the pet’s shoulder width.
- Installation check: Measure the screen frame area you plan to use — the product is made for standard screen doors and porch screens sized for small pets; ensure the opening and frame depth provide the clearance noted above.
- Measurement tolerance: manual measurements may vary by about 0.4–1.2 in.
