How to measure to pick the right size:
- Measure the opening you want to block — this gate extends up to about 49.2 in across. Choose a location where the gate can anchor securely.
- Measure your pet's shoulder height from the floor to the highest point of the shoulder (not the head). For toddlers, measure from the floor to the top of the shoulder/torso.
- Select a gate height that is at least 4–6 in taller than your pet's shoulder height for average jumpers; choose 6–8 in taller for very active jumpers or climbers.
- If your opening is narrower than the full retractable width, the gate will compress to fit; ensure there is secure anchor space at each end for the included positioners and hooks.
